Adelaida M. Palao, 85, of Jersey City passed away on May 2, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 1212 Kelly St. in Union on Saturday, May 5th at 9:30am. Cremation will follow at Rosedale Crematory in Orange. Friends are invited to visit at Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave. in Union on Friday from 5 to 8pm.
Born and raised in Macabebe, Philippines, the daughter of Leon and Asuncion (Mallari) Mercado, Adelaida received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Assumtion College. She worked for many years as an elementary school teacher before immigrating to the United States, Jersey City, in 1983. Adelaida enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Adelaida was the beloved wife of 60 years to Feliciano Palao. She was the loving mother of Eduard Palao (Mary Ann), Leonardo Palao (Milagros), Angelina Cortes (Philip), Alex Palao (Pamela), Gina Palao( fiancé Rey Adajar), Edna Palao (fiancé Jun Santos), Rogel Palao (Lutchie), Carlos Palao (Almira), and Marilou Palao. She is also survived by her cherished 25 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
