Alan placed his family above all else. He and his wife Patricia celebrated all of life’s successes and saw one another through all of life’s challenges with unwavering devotion to one another.
Alan was an artist, a poet, a husband, a father, an uncle and so much more. He played many roles in people’s lives and his impact upon others cannot be measured in words.
He made every decision with others in mind. His love for each and every member of the family was his priority. His sister Barbara, his nieces and nephews Patricia, Maureen, Eileen, Ann, Mary Jo, Donna, Steve, Pattie, George, Kathy, Evelyn, and sister-in-law Helen were all central to his life. There are too many names to list and too many stories for words on a page.
Following a 34 year career with the United States Postal Service, Alan went to work at Seton Hall University without missing a single day. His wife worked with the priest community and Saint Andrew’s Seminary while Alan managed the campus mailroom. Together they were fixtures of the Seton Hall community for over 10 years.
One of the ways Alan expressed his love of family was through his art and poetry. He loved reflecting on the gifts of God and family and put his thoughts into words that will live forever.
When he wasn’t writing poetry, he enjoyed golf, bowling and fishing. One of his favorite places was the family cabin in the Adirondacks. He spent many summer nights on the porch with his brother-in-law, Father George Mader, and his family by his side.
As difficult as his passing may be, he is with the love of his life, Patricia, once again. This is the way it should be when love is as genuine as theirs.
