Alexander Scott O’Connor was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on August 12, 1968. Alec grew up in Minnetonka and attended St David’s School and Groveland School.
When the family moved to Venezuela, Alec attended the Fessenden School in West Newton, Massachusetts.
Upon graduation from Fessenden, he attended the Northfield Mount Herman School in Northfield, Massachusetts and the Hyde School in Bath, Maine and later graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1991.
After graduation, he traveled extensively in Venezuela where his father was employed by the Venezuelan subsidiary of The Pillsbury Company. He then returned to the US where he began his career with Norwest Bank and later with Wells Fargo Bank in Minneapolis.
In 2009 he joined his father in Guatemala working as a financial analyst in his father’s company.
Alec passed away suddenly at his home in Antigua, Guatemala on June 6, 2012. He was 43 years old. A mass of Christian burial is scheduled for Saturday, June 30 at St. Teresa of Avila Church in Summit, New Jersey. Burial will be at St. Teresa of Avila Cemetery.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Gerald A. O’Connor, Jr. and Juliana M. O’Connor of Guatemala City and his mother, Gloria C. O’Connor of Devon, Pennsylvania; Alicia and Tom Thompson; Mary Elizabeth and Frank Allen; cousins Kimberly Thompson, Marisa Thompson, Mark Allen, Lisa Allen and Cynthia Allen; and very special friend Tracey M. Weber of West Des Moines, Iowa.
