Alma Louise Holderman, 101, died peacefully on Monday, January 6th.at King James Care Center in Chatham. Alma was born in Hillburn, New York, but spent most of her life in Paterson, N.J. She attended East Side High School, Paterson. She was employed for years as an office worker in New York City and later held various positions in Paterson. Along with her husband she was a leader in the “Forty and Eight” veteran’s organization, and supported and participated in the Eastern Star. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends and had been an avid reader and knitter until her eyesight failed. She was married to Kenneth R. Holderman, who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her sister Doris M. Wood and nephew Bruce C. Ralston. Alma was beloved by family and friends, and will be missed by all who knew her. She enjoyed family and social activities and was able to relish the celebration of her 100th birthday in 2012 with those closest to her. She is survived by her sister, Jean Peiper of Red Bank; niece Nancy Presnell and her husband William of Florham Park; niece Robin Higgins of Atlantic Highlands; nephew Richard Ralston of Baha, Mexico; and many grand nieces and nephews. On Friday, January 10th visitation and a prayer service will be held between the hours of 7-9 p.m.at Bradley Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Chatham, N.J. A graveside interment service will be held at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa at 11:30am, on Saturday, January 11th.
