Andrew Pyar Jr., was born in Slovakia on June 30, 1921. At 17, he came to the United States with his mother to live with his father in Roselle Park, NJ. Andrew served three years in the US Army as a medic and infantryman. He received three battle stars for fighting at the Battle of Normandy (second wave), Belgium, Northern France, Battle of the Bulge and Achen Germany. Andrew worked for Elastic Stop Nut in Union, NJ for 45 years as a machinist. He leaves behind his dear wife of 63 years, Olga, his dear son John and his wife Mary Ellen, and two grandchildren, Shane & Janelle Pyar. He also leaves behind his niece, Suzanne Droban, along with many nieces in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany, along with cousins in Florida. Andrew was an avid gardener, fisherman, bowler and like going to Atlantic City. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017, from 2 to 5 pm at the Bradley Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave., Springfield, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in Andrew’s name may be made to Center for Hope Hospice, 1900 Raritan Rd., Scotch Plains, NJ 07076.
