Annette “Tootie” Cahalan, 89, of Union, passed away on January 20, 2014. A Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 1212 Kelly St, Union on Saturday, January 25th at 10:15am. Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit at Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave, Union on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm.

A lifelong resident of Union, Tootie worked as a cashier in food service for several companies including J.B. William, Prudential and Blue Cross Blue Shield. She was a life member of the Catholic Daughters of American and a Girl Scout Leader. An avid NY Yankees fan, Tootie enjoyed dancing the Jitterbug with her beloved husband, the late Leo Cahalan.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Tootie is remembered by her family as part of the ultimate love story. She died on her late husband Leo’s birthday who passed away in September.

Tootie was the beloved wife of 65 years to the late Leo. She was the loving mother of, Leo Cahalan, III and his wife Susan of Alabama; daughter, Kathy Kachelriess and her husband Tom of Randolph, NJ; daughter Eileen Baker and her husband Bob of Hampton, NJ; cherished Tootie Ma of Leo Cahalan, IV and his wife Lesley of North Carolina; Kyle Cahalan and his wife Courtney of Alabama; Tara Kachelriess of Westfield, NJ; Kate Scherr and her husband Mike of Long Valley, NJ; Tiffany Kraik and her husband Andreas of Copenhagen, Denmark; Robert Baker and Steven Baker both of Hampton, NJ. Also surviving are 9 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings Josephine Eineker, Jennie Hamtil, Louis Magliaro, Carmella Svoboda, M. Michael Magliaro, and Domenick Magliaro. Donations in Tootie’s memory may be made to St. Michael the Archangel Church.
