Antony “Tony” Lofredo, a long-time resident of Springfield, NJ passed away at his home on August 25, 2021.  He was 94.

Born in Belleville, NJ to the late Joseph and Emilia Lofredo (nee Pomponio), he served in the US Army from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946.  He then attended New York University where he was a member of Tau Beta Pi, the Engineering Honor Society.  Tony graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree.  He worked for many years for AIRCO Industrial Gases (now part of Linde, AG) in Murray Hill, NJ where he retired as an Executive Chemical Engineer.  He holds several patents in cryogenic engineering and received numerous technology awards.

He was a member of St. James the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Springfield, NJ as well as the Knights of Columbus and the American Chemical Society (ACS).

An avid bridge player, Tony also enjoyed golfing, traveling, spending time and holidays with family, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He also looked forward to nights out at the theater and dinner with his friends.

Tony was the loving husband of Jo Ann.  The beloved father of Carol Alamorian and her husband John, Joseph and his late wife Anne, James and his wife Cathleen Finneran, Robert and Kathy, Mary Ellen Capron and her husband Gary, Richard and his wife Susan, and Thomas and his wife Nancy.  He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at the Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Avenue, Springfield, NJ on Tuesday, August 31, from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Funeral:
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 45 South Springfield Avenue, Springfield, NJ on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 10:30 AM.
Committal:
St. Teresa's Mausoleum in Summit immediately following the Funeral Mass
