Arthur William Bohse Jr., age 62, passed away suddenly on January 7, 2023. Artie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family above all else. He was a passionate fan of the Giants, Rangers, and Yankees and enjoyed spending time rooting for his favorite teams. He was also known for his witty dad jokes, which brought laughter and joy to those around him.
Growing up in downtown Jersey City, he attended St. Michael’s Grammar School, then St. Anthony’s High School where he fell in love with his wife of 36 years (together for 41 years). He also frequented Shannon’s Tavern where he forged lifelong friendships. He worked for the Jersey City Housing Authority for 29 years before retiring and becoming a Fire Alarm Inspector for Complete Security Systems. He was highly respected and valued by all of his colleagues.
30 years ago, Noreen and Artie made Union their home, where they raised their three children. Artie was always supportive of his children, and he never missed a game or event in which they were involved. He was an active member of the community, always lending a helping hand to his neighbors and through his parish, St. Michael’s, the Knights of Columbus Council 4504, and Elks Lodge 1583. He was also a big supporter of local businesses, especially Joe’s Place, where he spent time with family and friends on Friday nights.
He is survived by his wife, Noreen, his children Kerri Duplissis & husband Frank, Megan, Patrick & husband Eric Ghildyal, as well as his adored granddaughter, Quinn Duplissis. Artie is the beloved son of the late Arthur Bohse Sr. & Gabrielle (née Reidy); brother of Patricia Bohse & husband John Nicodemo, Mary Ellen Thomas, Efrosine “Rose” Sullivan & husband Mark, and the late Gail Bohse; brother-in-law of Jane & Len Mackesy, Mary & Stephen Russell, Joanne & John Taylor, Beth & Dave Mazzaccaro; uncle of Joelle, Brian, Kristie, Scottie, James, Greg, Jeanette, Kelsey, Jodi, & Matt.
