Barbara Louise Larkin, aged 83, of Basking Ridge, NJ passed away quietly on January 23, 2022 in the care of her son William and his wife Kathleen. Barbara was born on November 12, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY to William Thomas Cullen and Catherine Barbara Cullen (nee Gallagher). She married John Peter Larkin of Castleton Corners Staten Island in Giessen, Germany in 1958 and had three sons; Peter, William and Thomas. She lived in Basking Ridge, NJ for many years. She divorced in 1978 and never remarried.
She was employed by the US Veterans Administration in Lyons, NJ before transferring to the DCMA in Springfield, NJ and finally retiring from the Department of Defense in Cherry Point NC. She spent her retirement living independently near her children in Basking Ridge, NJ. She was an avid and accomplished painter and enjoyed spending time with her 5 grandchildren. She was known as “Aunt Barbara” to her many nieces and nephews (she was always the fun one).
Barbara was predeceased by her father William Thomas Cullen, mother Catherine Barbara Cullen (nee Gallagher) and brother William Thomas Cullen. She is survived by her sister Catherine Loftus, her son Peter and his wife Gail, son William and his wife Kathleen, son Thomas and his wife Edith and grandchildren Sean, Colin, Michael, Richard and Madeline.
