Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother & Friend
Benjamin V. Ricciardi, 69, of Marlboro, NJ, passed with his family by his side on November 5, 2014. Born in Newark, he was predeceased by his parents Federico and Josephine (nee Filingeri) Ricciardi. He was a retired Captain from the Newark Fire Department for over 25 years. After retirement, he was a Certified Prevention Specialist for Union County, Elizabeth, NJ. Benjamin was a Command Sgt. Major and a Paratrooper with the US Army. Benjamin is the loving husband of 45 years to Anna Ricciardi, (nee Romano), devoted father to Lisa Costa and her husband Joseph, Gregory Ricciardi and his wife Dianna, cherished grandfather of Joseph, Christina & Sophia Costa, beloved brother of Vincent and Frederick, also survived by loving nieces, nephews & other family. Ben was a 3rd Degree Knight, first with the Union Council, then with Monmouth. Ben was also a devoted member to the Italian American Assiociation. he loved all things Italian, who’s spirit truly shined when he would visit Italy various times with his family, his favorite spot in the world. His face would glow like a kid on Christmas when he was there. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 10:45 am at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 306 Morris Ave, Summit, NJ. Entombment St. Teresa’s Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday, 1- 3 & 6 – 9 pm at the Bradley Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, donations in Benjamin’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-1942.
