Beverly Lewis Harding

Beverly Lewis Harding, 95, of Mountainside, New Jersey passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Berkeley Heights with her son David at her side.

Beverly was born on July 4, 1926 in Hillside, New Jersey to the late Mr. and Mrs. William and Dorothy (nee Lewis) Chamberlin and sister to Donald W. Chamberlin. Dorothy Lewis was descendant of Francis Lewis signer of the Declaration of Independence. While in Hillside High School, Beverly participated in; Archery, Bowling, and Cheer Leading. She was a Cadet Nurse with the United States Cadet Nurse Core (USCNC) during war time at Newark Presbyterian Hospital and later worked for the Hillside National Bank. Beverly was engaged to Thomas G. Harding Jr. from Bayonne, New Jersey December 15th of 1950. They were married on June 21, 1951, and after living in Cranford moved to Mountainside NJ in 1952 where they raised their three boys, and vacationed in Belmar. After her husband’s passing in 1985 she pursued her passion of fabrics and sewing at Sew & Show in Garwood for many years.

She was a women of strong faith and a member of the Mountainside Gospel Chapel. She frequently hosted a women’s bible study in her home and ensured that her boys were on the Sunday School bus every Sunday morning.

In her spare time, Beverly enjoyed horseback riding, Jack Lalanne exercising, gardening, making grape jelly, baking “The” Christmas cookies, and spending time down the shore with dinner at the Fishing Club, ice-cream at Days, Ocean Grove, and Marco Polo’s on Sunday nights. She was an accomplished Artist filling her home with original pieces of art and gifting her creations to friends and family. She enjoyed sewing and making her own clothes, life with her Irish setters; Copper and Penny.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She made holidays special with her personal touches and wonderful sense of humor.  She was a wonderful, kind and gracious lady.

Beverly is survived by; David Harding, Thomas Harding III, his wife Cathy and their daughter Rachel Harding Cooney and husband Patrick. Russell Harding and his wife Linda their daughter Cara and husband Michael along with their daughter Kylei, and sister-in-law Rita Chamberlin.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Thomas George Harding Jr. of 34 years in 1985 and wonderful older brother Donald Chamberlin in 1999.

A private graveside service was held at Valhalla (Ocean View) Cemetery, Staten Island NY with immediate family in attendance.
