Born in Livingston, NJ on May 27, 1983, she was the first female Engelberger to be born in over a century. She was raised in Hanover Township, NJ where she graduated from Whippany Park High School, and her vibrant personality earned her the honor of cheerleading captain and Homecoming Queen. She continued her education at Rutgers University, graduating with degrees in psychology and sociology as well as becoming the only of her siblings to earn a D-1 varsity letter in wrestling when she served as Team Manager.
She is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Ron and Rose Bushwell with whom she held an abiding respect and love. Brandie is survived by her loving parents Fred and Linda Engelberger, her brothers Bradford, Devon, and C-J and many close relatives and friends. She was a devoted aunt to Brody and Emerson, and proud owner to her dog Charlie with whom she moved state to state with.
Brandie was fierce and strong willed, but she also had an enormous heart and an unflinching desire to create adventure, joy and comfort for those lucky enough to find themselves within the sphere of her love. Her empathetic spirit was manifested in her choice to pursue a non-profit career path. She began working at the Multiple Sclerosis Society, followed by the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, and was employed by Susan G. Komen at the time of her passing.
Brandie was generous, loyal, and brave. She embraced new experiences, traveling to destinations near and far: from Arizona to China as well as volunteering with under privileged children in Guatemala, all the while keeping family connections as the cornerstone of her life.
She will be remembered for her big heart which she shared with her friends and family. Brandie struggled, but she carried herself with dignity and respect, using her understanding of life’s challenges to offer empathy and support to those in need. She packed so much life into her 41 years. She traveled, chased her dreams, worked in a profession she loved, and put one foot in front of another as she walked a challenging path with grace, integrity and courage. She will be missed dearly.
