Brian R. O’Toole, 77, of Whippany, NJ, passed away on June 2, 2024.

Visiting hours will be held at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, located at 49 Whippany Road (map), in Whippany, NJ on Thursday, June 6, from 3:00 to 8:00 pm ET. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, June 7, at 10:00 am at Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel Church, 75 Ridgedale Ave (map), in Cedar Knolls, NJ. Interment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ.

Brian was born in Newark, New Jersey to Walter and Helen O’Toole and grew up in Irvington, NJ. He graduated from Seton Hall Prep, earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Villanova University, and received his Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall School of Law. Brian founded and was senior partner at the law firm O’Toole, Couch, and Della Rovere, LLC in Whippany. He also dedicated 40-years of service as a Prosecutor and Municipal Judge in Hanover. Brian was a distinguished member of the New Jersey Defense Association (NJDA), the Knights of Columbus, and the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. An officer and boxer in the Navy, as well as a college football player, he had a lifelong passion for Villanova basketball. He also coached youth soccer and baseball in Hanover Township, was a football referee, and volunteered loyally at the Veterans Hospital.

Brian cherished many years of fishing on Manasquan Beach, had a deep love for the Christmas holiday, and adored his dogs, Seamus, Perry Mason, and Tanya. He traveled extensively with his family, including many trips to Ireland and other various destinations around the world. Brian’s presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and local community.

Brian was the beloved husband of 35 years to Clare “Sunny” O’Toole. He was the loving father of Erin Morgese (James Matsakis), Brian O’Toole (Sarah) and Kevin O’Toole, and beloved stepfather to James Newson (Daisy Newson), and Michael Newson, and to cousin Lee Karosen. He is also survived by his cherished nine grandchildren and great grandchild.  Brian was predeceased by his brother, Joseph O’Toole.
