Briana Marie Marques Pereira, 13, of Union, New Jersey passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 peacefully after a battle against Leukemia at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia with her parents by her side.
Briana was born on November 24, 2004 in Livingston, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jose and Ana Paula (Marques) Pereira. She was a student at Burnet Middle School, Union, NJ where she was inducted into the Junior Honor Society.
She was a strong, loving, witty and sassy child who will truly be missed by her family and friends. Briana loved to dance and attended Susie Karlik’s Dance Sensation for the past 11 years. She was an avid fan of Harry Potter and was able to visit Universal with her family 2 years ago. In her spare time she enjoyed rooting for the NY Red Bulls, NJ Devils and the Tottenham Hotspurs FC.
Briana loved to cook and was quite the chef. She enjoyed writing and attended the Portuguese School of Union where she learned how to speak, write and read in Portuguese. She loved to travel with her family and listening to all types of music.
Briana is survived by her parents; Jose and Ana Paula Pereira, maternal grandmother, Lurdes Amaral, paternal grandmother, Clementina Pereira, aunt, Isabel Sequeira and husband Augie, uncles; Tony Marques and wife Adelia, Armando Marques and wife Romilda and godfather, Carlos Marques and wife Belmira, godmother, Sandra Mota and several cousins. She was predeceased by her grandfathers; Manuel Pereira and Jose Amaral.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 403 Spring St, Elizabeth, NJ 07201 An entombment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Briana’s name to Sarah’s Fight for Hope, 10 Amherst Drive, Long Valley, NJ 07853.
