Catherine E. Corcoran

Catherine E. Corcoran “Kay”, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015. Born in Newark, Catherine grew up in Maplewood before moving to Springfield where she lived for over 50 years, where she worked as the Assistant to the Tax Assessor for several years. She was a member and at one time, President of both the St. James Mothers Guild and the St. James Seniors Group, as well as a member of the St. James Rosary Altar Society. She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, playing bridge and travelling, but her grandchildren were her greatest joy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 10:00 am at the St. James the Apostle Church, 45 S. Springfield Ave., Springfield. Entombment will follow at St. Teresa’s Cemetery Mausoleum. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, from 5-8pm at the Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave., Springfield. Predeceased by her husband Frank J. Corcoran, brother O. Vincent McNany, and sister Joan Kuypers; Catherine is survived by her children J. Russell Corcoran and his wife Celeste of Wakefiled, RI, Teresa C. Tyrrell and her husband John of Chester, NJ, and Carol A. Miner and her husband John of Warrington, PA; grandchildren Caitlin Tyrrell, Colleen Tyrrell. Carlye Corcoran, Kevin Miner, Maura Tyrrell, and Elizabeth Miner; her brother Eugene McNany of Sarasota, FL, and many nieces and nephews.
