Catherine M. Powers (nee: Starker), 90, of New Providence, passed away on Saturday , June 22, 2013. Born and raised in Linden, Catherine moved to New Providence in 1952 where she lived before settling in Basking Ridge in 2012. Catherine was a secretary for General Motors in Clark for many years. She also enjoyed working as a volunteer at the New Providence Memorial Library for over 30 years. Predeceased by her husband Cornelius, Catherine is survived by her children Mary C. Powers, Claire R. Powers and Gregory R. Powers; granddaughter Rebecca Kupferschmid and 2 great grandchildren, Brianna and Mikayla A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday June 26, 2013 at 10:30am at Our Lady of Peace Church, 111 South Street, New Providence. Interment will follow at St Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia. There will be a visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Bradley, Brough & Dangler Funeral Home 309 Springfield Ave., Summit.
