Cheryl Ann Clarke, 73, of Surf City, NC, passed away on July 6th, after a brief battle with Lymphoma. She was born on October 27th, 1949 to Martin and Elvira Fellers in Essex, NJ. Cheryl graduated from Millburn High School in 1966 and went on to receive an associates degree from Marymount University.
After graduation, her first job was with Xerox as a secretary for her future husband Brian. Cheryl and Brian got married in 1975 and had four children, Sean, Michael, Kimberley, and John. After marriage, she shifted career paths to become a real estate agent. Eventually, she pursued her true passion and became a dental hygienist. We remember her studying by listening to recordings of her classes in the car while carting us around to various sports practices/games and her studying late into the night to accomplish this dream. Cheryl practiced dental hygiene for 18 years before retiring in 2008.
Cheryl loved spending time reading on the beach, watching dolphins, finding sea glass and sharks teeth. After relocating to NC, she found a new passion by volunteering at the “turtle hospital” caring for and feeding turtles. Her favorite turtle was called Snooki, but Cheryl called her Jersey Girl because of her beloved Long Beach Island, NJ.
Cheryl was always up for an adventure, but her favorite moments were spending time with her children and five grandchildren. As a mother, Cheryl worked hard alongside Brian to give her children a variety of experiences including many ski trips around the world. Between playing board games, cooking their favorite meal, and taking them to the beach. Nonna loved being with and spoiling her grandchildren.
Cheryl is predeceased in death by her mother, Elvira Fellers; father, Martin Fellers; husband, Brian Clarke; and son, Sean Clarke. She is survived by daughter Kimberley Garrett (Parker, Madeleine, Clarke, Cyrus) and sons Michael Clarke (Courtney, Emerson, Riley) and John Clarke.
