~~Christine Gerity of Basking Ridge (formerly of Summit) passed away on October 27, 2016. A funeral service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 587 Springfield Ave in Summit on Tuesday, November 1st at 11:00am. Interment is private. Born and raised in Philadelphia, the daughter of Thomas and Ethel Ashby, Chris had lived in Summit since 1967. She was a graduate of the Thomas Jefferson School of Nursing in Philadelphia. Chris was an RN at Overlook Hospital prior to raising children and later returned to nursing at New Providence Internal Medicine. She was a longtime member of St John’s, where she taught Sunday school, and more recently a volunteer at Overlook Hospital. Chris and her late husband John had retired to Grand Lake Stream, Maine and were active in the local community. She loved time spent with family, especially her grandchildren.
Chris was the beloved wife of the late John Gerity. She was the loving mother of Tom Gerity and his wife Carolyn, Lisa Dolce and her husband Greg and Kim Dolce and her husband Tom. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren; Anna, Michael, Rachel, Lauren and Melanie and dear sister Kathleen Reynolds.
