Clara Elizabeth “Teedee” Knowles Carroll, 87, of Chatham Township, died on July 12, 2023. Teedee grew up in Essex Fells, New Jersey and lived there until she married Stephen Carroll. She graduated from Caldwell High School and then the University of New Hampshire, where she earned a B.S. degree in Social Work. She worked for a short time at Massachusetts General Hospital and later at Chatham High School. She and her family enjoyed vacationing in Maine. Teedee loved her involvement with the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township, the Library of the Chathams, Morristown Medical Center, the American Red Cross, SCEEP, P.E.O., and the P.T.O. organizations in her sons’ schools.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Stephen; son Stephen, Jr. (Susan Andersen) of Portland, Maine; son Reed (Dara Picard) and granddaughter, Calen Picard-Carroll, of Teaneck, New Jersey; and dear family friend, Darryl Jones, of Brooklyn, New York.
A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township on September 16, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Donations would be welcome at the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township; or, in her memory, reach out to a friend or volunteer to help someone.
