Clara Martino Martinelli died at home in Short Hills on Wednesday, April 25, 2012. She was 95. Born and raised in Newark, she also maintained residences in Belmar NJ and Stuart, FL
Clara joined the Prudential Insurance Company in Newark in l936, retiring 39 years later as a supervisor. In l968, she submitted a suggestion which was adopted by the company which resulted in substantial savings. She received an award for her suggestion which was the highest suggestion award in Prudential’s history.
An amazing cook, Clara had a passion for cooking, baking, travel and her family. Truly a people person, she was a friend to all and loved by young and old. She enjoyed her many trips to Italy as well as wintering at her Florida home and summers at her beach house in Belmar.
Clara was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church in Short Hills and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Clara also served as chairwoman of Barringer High School 50th Class Reunion.
Predeceased by her husband Vincent Martinelli Sr. and her sister, Carolyn Martinelli; Clara was Aunt and Special Mother to Carol Hancock and her husband David of Short Hills, Dr. Donald Martinelli and his wife Maria of Brooklyn, NY and Vincent Martinelli, Jr. and his wife Crecia of Kingwood, Texas. Also surviving are grandchildren Heather Stubblefield, David Hancock, Jr., Vincent Martinelli, III, Donald Martinelli, Jr, Patrick Martinelli and Teressa Martinelli.
