Clarito L. Garces, M.D., 77, of Cedar Knolls, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Morristown Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Clarito was born on May 17, 1940 in Manila, Philippines. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicasio Vidal Garces (Attorney) and Soledad Creus (High School English Teacher) (nee Lezarda) Garces.
He was a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines. Dr. Garces immigrated to the United States in 1967. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. He started his private practice of Internal Medicine in Madison, NJ in 1973 and settled in Chatham, NJ for the last 27 years. Dr. Garces was an Affiliate of Atlantic Heath Systems’ Primary Care Partners and a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
In his spare time, he loved to play classical music on the piano and enjoyed gourmet cooking. He was an avid fan of the New York Rangers and New York Giants.
Dr. Garces will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 35 years, Virginia “Ginny” Garces, RN Practice Manager and his children Michael Garces (Cathy), Michelle Piscitelli (T.J.), and two step-sons, Keith Pieper (Robyn) and James Pieper. He was the loving “Dr. Papa” of ten grandchildren, Dominic, Malia, Gianna, Alyssa, Nicholas, Christian, Jessica, Tyler, Brayden and Logan. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Hilda Garces Ureta and predeceased by his brother, Antonio Garces.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Road, Whippany, NJ 07981. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 75 Ridgedale Ave., Cedar Knolls, NJ 07927. An entombment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery, Morristown, NJ. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Dr. Clarito L. Garces to Atlantic Hospice, 465 South Street, Morristown, NJ 07960.
