Constance R. Gleichmann (Connie), (nee Rising), 85, longtime resident of Florham Park, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2023. She was a loving wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Connie was born in Bridgeport, CT but grew up in Chatham, NJ where she was a member of the Chatham HS class of 1955.  Upon graduation, Connie pursued her dream of becoming a nurse and helping others.  She was a graduate of Elmira College (Pre-Nursing) with a BS degree in Nursing from Columbia University (1960). Connie & her high school sweetheart, Ted were married in the fall of 1960.

While raising 3 children, Connie’s passion for nursing shined through as she pursued her School Nurse Certification from Caldwell College (1976) and Master’s in Education from East Stroudsburg (1992) to teach others. Her legacy continued with all her work caring for people as a Private Duty Nurse, CCU/ICU RN, and a School Nurse for Lucy D Anthony (Madison) and Jefferson (Succasunna) Elementary Schools. After her retirement in 2005, she continued to substitute in the Roxbury Township School District and was a CPR & EpiPen Instructor & held an Emergency Medical Technician Certification.

Connie was an active member in many organizations including Florham Park Historical Society, Florham Park Senior Citizens Club, Madison/Florham Park Women’s Club, Hanover Park Band Parents Association, Bible Study Group and was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  She served her community for 30+ years as a dedicated member of the Florham Park Memorial First Aid Squad in many roles.  Professionally, Connie belonged to the National Association of School Nurses, New Jersey State School Nurses Association and Morris County School Nurses Association.

Connie loved traveling, playing tennis and bridge with her friends. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren play youth and high school sports as well as their school activities.

Connie is predeceased by her husband, Ted Gleichmann, and her parents, Edith (Jorgensen) and Edward Rising. She is survived by her brother David Rising (wife Judy), her children; Terri (husband Chuck Kugler), Robert (wife Sharon), and Andrew (wife Cynthia), and her grandchildren Bryan & Erica Kugler, Alison & Jimmy Gleichmann, and Nicholas & Thomas Gleichmann.

Family and friends are welcome to visit on Sunday February 5th from 1 pm to 5 pm at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Chatham, N.J. A funeral service will be held on Monday February 6th at 10 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Florham Park. Interment is in Fair Mount Cemetery, Chatham.
