Daniel Pagliara
07/25/1917 - 11/09/2013

Daniel Pagliara passed away with quiet dignity on Saturday, November 9th, his wife, Betty at his side. He was 96 years of age. A son of the late Alphonso and Henrietta Pagliara, Daniel was one of seven brothers who grew up in Chatham, NJ, and who served in Europe as an Army Air Corps veteran during WWII. Dan married the late Claire Edna Dion in 1950, and has three children: Michael, Haverton, PA., Clifford, Branchville, NJ and Claire Marie, Port St. Lucie, FL. An avid golfer, bowler, occasional softball player, Dan also enjoyed swimming, gardening, the early Mets baseball teams, and he shared his mother’s ability to cook fine Italian food. After his wife Claire’s passing in 1976, Daniel retired after 39 years with AT&T and moved to Florida in 1979, where he became an active member of the St. Anastasia Parish. He met and later married Elizabeth G. Addams, and became step-father to her four children; Neil, Lorranie, Susan, and Chris. Dan became a permanent Deacon in the Catholic Church and remained active in that ministry until his retirement in 2006. He continued to golf well into his nineties, though he eventually quit keeping score. Besides his children and step-children, our beloved father is survived by his wife Betty, his youngest brother, Rev. Alphonso Pagliara, Beacon, NY, his daughters-in-law Marianne, and Deborah, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three nephews and two nieces.
