David Bailey Wilcox, 96, a long-time resident of Chatham, New Jersey passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021.
He was born on May 17, 1924 in Jersey City, New Jersey. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Elizabeth (nee McGregor) Wilcox. David served in the United States Navy during World War II.
David received his Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN and his MBA from New York University. He worked as an accountant for ExxonMobil for over 40 years.
He was an active member of the Chatham United Methodist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf and watching sports. He helped establish the Colonial Baseball League and coached a team for over 20 years in Chatham. David was always very active within the community and a mentor and friend to many.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Peggy Wilcox, his daughters, Nancy Wilcox Davidson and Ellen Wolyn and husband Steve, and grandchildren Kim and Matt.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 1:00-2:30 pm at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Chatham, NJ 07928 with a service to follow at 2:30 pm. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to the Chatham United Methodist Church, 460 Main St, Chatham, NJ 07928.
