Dawn C. Melkowits, (nee Pantini), 62, of New Providence, NJ passed peacefully at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ on June 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving family

She was born in New York City, NY, to James and Peggy Pantini. She grew up in Summit, NJ, and graduated from Summit High School. She also completed courses at Union County College for Phlebotomy. In her early years, she worked at Terry’s Luncheonette, Summit and Elizabeth Trust Company, Randazzo’s Restaurant & Pizzeria, Old Glory Restaurant, and Christ Church Drop-in. She devoted several years working as a dental assistant for Dr. Glenn P. Berkowitz, DDS (currently known as Summit Family & Cosmetic Dentistry).

Dawn was an avid reader, owl lover, music enthusiast (especially live music), and player of SongPop. She loved spending time at Bradley Beach, drinking her Dunkin’ lattes, and watching Golden Girls. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the Summit PAL Fishing Derby and the Linden Hunting and Fishing Club.

Throughout her life, Dawn dealt with several hardships and illnesses. Despite those challenges, she was strong, brave, and a fighter. She truly believed in spreading kindness and love to all.

Dawn is survived by her husband, Louis J. Melkowits, Jr, her son L.J. and his wife Crystal, two daughters, Jenna and Megan Melkowits, her mother Margaret (Peggy) Pantini, her siblings Scott Pantini, Jennifer Cieslinski and her husband Chet, Pamela Quigley and her husband Zach, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, her beloved dog, Trixie, and many friends. She was predeceased by her father James V. Pantini Sr. and brother Jimmy (James V. Pantini Jr.).

Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 3 pm to 7 pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30 pm at the Bradley Brough & Dangler Funeral Home, 299 Morris Ave. Summit, NJ 07901. In lieu of flowers, kindly offer donations, in Dawn’s name, to the Epilepsy Foundation of America (https://www.epilepsy.com/) or the New Providence First Aid Squad (https://newprovidenceems.org/).
