Dietrich M. Reich
01/28/1930 - 12/23/2024

Dietrich M. Reich, age 94, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, in the New Jersey Veteran’s Home in Menlo Park.

Dietrich was born January 28, 1930, in Pforzheim, Germany to Manfred and Martha Reich.  He immigrated to the US in 1952 and served in the army during the Korean War.  He worked as a draftsman at multiple architectural firms and designed the mid-store escalators in the former Bamberger’s (now Macy’s) at the Livingston Mall.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Anita, daughter and son-in law Monica and Lou Allen, and grandchildren Grace and Louis.  He is also survived by brother Wolfgang and 6 nieces.

A resident of Union since 1960, he was most proud of a second home that he and Anita purchased in 1966 in a small hamlet in Sullivan County NY named Roscoe which was lovingly called “the farm”.  The farmhouse was built in 1860, and most summer weekends were spent in Roscoe working on house projects, walking the property, or building birdhouses.

Dietrich’s legacy of love and dedication to his family will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
