Donald F. Stevens (Don) of New Providence, NJ, Martha’s Vineyard, MA and Chatham, NJ passed away on Sunday, June 12 at the age of 90. Don grew up in Jersey City where he attended St. Peter’s Prep and St. Peter’s College before going to Georgetown University Law School. After graduating Don served in the army and was stationed in France where he met his wife of 63 years, Christiane. He lived in Chatham during his professional years as a practicing attorney. After retirement Don moved to Martha’s Vineyard where he lived for 20 years. He recently moved back to the area to be closer to his family.
Don enjoyed walks in the Great Swamp, stargazing on Martha’s Vineyard. Swimming and snorkeling were activities he enjoyed both on the Vineyard and in the Cayman Islands. He loved to eat out and visited many of the iconic New York restaurants of the 70s and 80s.
Don is survived by his wife Christiane. Children Donald Stevens Jr. (Elliot Stern), Lee Anne Fischl (Dan) and Mimi James (Ron Kucenski) and grandchildren Kate Fischl, Alex Fischl (Sigal) and Madeleine James.
