Plan for the Future
Douglas was born in Wilmington, DE, the only child of Marion and Audrey Schultz. He was raised in Newark, NJ and graduated from West Side High School in 1966. He attended college at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, where he developed a lifelong love of all Pittsburgh sports teams. Douglas worked in the heavy-duty truck and bus equipment sales industry for over 40 years, ending his career at Air Brake in Hillside, NJ.
He leaves his wife of 48 years, Denise (Suzy Byrne) and his beloved daughters and their spouses, Bethany and Chris Larsen of Peekskill, NY, and Amanda and Frank Abbate of Union, NJ. He also leaves his loving grandson, Frank Elliot Abbate, who will dearly miss his precious “Pop-Pop Doug”.
The family is planning to have a memorial “get together” at a yet undecided future date; cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Westchester Symphonic Winds. A French horn player when he was young, Douglas was a lifelong music lover.
