Charles E. Connant, M.D., P.A., of Short Hills, New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the age of 93.


Born and raised in Athens, Greece, Dr. Connant settled in Jersey City in 1950.He earned his


Graduate Degree in Internal Medicine with NYU Bellevue Medical Center, and his degree in OB-Gyn with the University of Pennsylvania. He served his straight Internship in Medicine at the Jersey City Medical Center, and served a rotating Internship at Fitkin Memorial Hospital in Neptune, New Jersey. He did his residency in Ob-Gyn with Bellevue Medical Center in New York, and St. Francis Hospital in the Bronx, New York. He was an Associate of H.B. Wager and E.G. Waters at Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital in Jersey City. He served as Assistant Director of Ob-Gyn at Christ Hospital, Jersey City. Since 1977, he has been a Clinical Professor of Ob-Gyn at UMDNJ in Newark. He served as a Fellow in Cervical Dysplasia and Pathology at Brookdale Medical Center in Brooklyn. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and American College of Ob-Gyn, Dr. Connant also co-authored “Minimal Access Gynaecology” in 1995.


A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday April 17, 2013 at 11am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church 250 Gallows Hill Rd., Westfield. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield. There will be a visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm, with a Trisagion Service at 7:30pm at the Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home 415 Morris Ave., Springfield, NJ 07081. Dr. Connant is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn (nee: Givissis); children Pamela, Charles Jr., and his wife Christina, and Susan; grandchildren Elizabeth and Corinne; and sisters Anthoussa Constantinidis, and Lily Taglis.
