Florian Mikulski of Chatham Township died October 11, 2022. He was 86.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12pm on October 21, 2022 at Corpus Christi Church, 234 Southern Blvd., Chatham Township. Burial will be from Gate of Heaven Garden Mausoleum, E. Hanover, NJ immediately following the service.
Born in Buffalo, NY, to John and Victoria (Gielinski), he received his BS degree from Canisius College in Buffalo, and a MS and Ph. D. in Organic Chemistry from Princeton University. He served in the Army Chemical Corps from 1962-1964 as an officer, ultimately leaving as a Captain.
After serving as a chemist for several years at Allied Chemical (NJ), he joined the CIA where he worked in the Clandestine Services, and later in the Directorate of Science and Technology, where he was one of the founders of the digital satellite system. He joined Chase Manhattan Bank as a Vice President and software specialist, and later founded the bank’s international telecommunications network, a predesessor of the Internet. He was a prodigious international traveler.
After serving as President of the Security Pacific Bank telecommunications subsidiary, he became an independent telecommunications consultant. He is the author of Supply Chain Management, Complex Procurements, which guides companies on how to make the right vendor choice.
He was a member of Corpus Christi for over 30 years. He sang in the funeral choir, loved jazz and classical music. In Chatham, he coached PAL football for 10 years.
Dr. Mikulski is pre-deceased by his wife Ann L. Mikulski and his sister, Lucy Szrama. He is survived by his children: Thomas (wife Susan), Nancy Maluso (husband David), Michael (wife Clair), and Susan Mullin (husband Kevin), thirteen grandchildren: Grace (and Matt) Gruber, Matthew, Timothy and Clair Mikulski; Kevin, Jennifer and Stephanie Maluso; Frannie and Leon Mikulski; Sanda, Patrick, Casey and Christopher Mullin, and three great-grandchildren (Charlotte and Lucas Gruber, Elizabeth Connolly)
