~~Dr. Harry R. Philippi, 91, of Chatham passed away quietly in his home surrounded by his family on July 22, 2016. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Church, 234 Southern Blvd in Chatham on Tuesday, July 26th at 10:30am. Born in Newark, the son of John and Kathryn Philippi, Dr. Philippi graduated from St. Benedict’s Prep. He received his undergraduate degree from Seton Hall University and his degree in dentistry from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a member of Delta Sigma Delta. Dedicated to his practice and his patients, Dr. Philippi enjoyed a long and successful dental practice in Maplewood until his retirement in 2000. A parishioner at Corpus Christ, he loved skiing and vacationing with his family and all their dogs in Barnegat Light.

Dr. Philippi was the beloved husband of Helen for 68 years. He was the loving father of Brian and his wife Josephine, Laurie Caulin and her husband William and the late Gary Philippi and his wife Elizabeth. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Kelly O’Connell and her husband Sean, William Caulin, Brian Caulin and his wife Aleah, Jessica Philippi, and John Philippi and great grandchildren, Caiden, Declan, Finnegan, and Brogan O’Connell. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dr. Philippi’s memory may be made to your favorite charity.
