Edward P. Papalia, III (Eddie), 29, passed away peacefully at home in Chatham on June 5, 2012. Born in Livingston, Eddie has lived in Chatham most of his life. A 2001 Cum Laude graduate of Newark Academy, he was named Male Scholar Athlete in his Class. Eddie received his Bachelor’s degree from Haverford College, Haverford, Pa, where he was a 3 time Track & Field All-American and was awarded an NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship representing the highest level of Academic and Athletic Achievement in a College Career. In 2007, Eddie received his Masters in Environmental Management from the Nicholas School of Environment & Earth Sciences at Duke University. He was an Energy & Climate Policy Analyst with Eastern Research Group, (ERG) in Boston Mass, a company dedicated to preserving the environment. Eddie is survived by his parents, Edward P. Jr. and Daphne (nee Holcombe) Papalia, his twin sister Marie Papalia maternal grandmother Chantal Holcombe, aunts Jeanne Holcombe and Diane Papalia and many cousins. Private services were held. In lieu of flowers donations in Eddie’s name may be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Avenue New York, NY 10021 attn Sarcoma Research.
