Edna Jordan
11/17/1936 - 12/16/2024

Edna Jordan passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024. She was born on November 17, 1936, in Manhattan, NY, to Emmy and Edmund Baumgart, the oldest of their three daughters.

Edna married Joseph Jordan, and together they built a loving home and raised their family in Colonia, New Jersey. Edna was an active and dedicated Girl Scout leader for many years, making a lasting impact on the lives of the girls she mentored.

In 1979, Edna and Joe moved to Washington, NJ, where they embraced a quieter, country life. Sadly, shortly after their move, Joe passed away suddenly.

Edna went on to work as a typist in the county clerk’s office in Belvidere. Edna volunteered with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America youth mentoring program. She raised several seeing-eye dogs through the 4-H Club alongside her daughter Irene (Renee).

Edna loved to travel and shared many cherished trips to Mexico with her sister Irene. Her adventurous spirit also led her to the Philippines to celebrate her son Ed’s wedding to Thelma—a treasured experience she spoke of often.

Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren, and nothing made her happier than spending time with them.

Edna is predeceased by her parents, Emmy and Edmund Baumgart; her beloved husband, Joseph Jordan; her daughter, Irene Banghart; and her grandson, Anthony Cole.

She is survived by her loving children: Joni Klein (Edward), Edmund Jordan (Thelma), and Judy Ascot-Wingfield (Richard); 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Irene Baumgart and Barbara Persche; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Edna’s legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to her family and community will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
