~~Edward Karpenski, 65, of Chatham passed away on May 19, 2017. Memorial visiting hours will be held at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. in Chatham on Tuesday, May 23rd from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 9pm with a service at 8pm during the visitation. Born and raised in Summit, the son of Edward and Jane Karpenski, Ed graduated from Summit High School in 1969. Ed earned his Bachelor’s degree in History from St. Francis College, PA, where he was a member of the Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity. He moved to Chatham in 1978. He was a Senior Applications Engineer with National Air Filter in Cedar Grove for the past 16 years. An accomplished guitar player, Ed also enjoyed hiking, cycling, and American history. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his generosity, laugh, bear hugs, and hilarious stories.

Ed was the beloved husband of 42 years to Jane. He was the loving father of Matthew Karpenski and his wife Susan Lin, and Robin Karpenski and her husband Michael Diamond. He is also survived by his cherished granddaughter Beatrice Karpenski and his dear sister Ann K. Cooke.
