In Loving Memory of Elaine Louise Donahue

Elaine Louise Donahue (nee Bertelson), 77, of New Providence, peacefully passed away on January 6, 2024. Born in Orange, NJ, on April 8, 1946, and raised in Chatham Borough, NJ, Elaine’s journey wove a tapestry of love, family, and cherished moments. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering generosity endeared her to all who knew her.

Elaine Donahue was a trusted and  successful, local realtor. She started her career at Burgdorff Realtors and then at Coldwell Banker. She recently retired from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices in New Providence. Her warm and caring personality contributed to her achievements in the field.

A longtime resident of Chatham, with a brief stint in Cherry Hill, NJ, Elaine spent the last seventeen years creating memories in the welcoming community of New Providence. Her life was a testament to the beauty of simplicity, with a profound love for her grandchildren and beloved pets Reggie the dog and Carly the cat. Her faithful pet companions will undoubtedly miss her comforting presence.

Elaine found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. An accomplished gardener with a green thumb, Elaine was proud of her many bloom-filled flower gardens, her favorite being peonies. Vacationing and spending late afternoons on the beaches of the Jersey Shore and Martha’s Vineyard held a special place in her heart.

Elaine is survived by her devoted husband of seventeen years, Michael Del Duca. Her legacy is carried forward by her loving children: son James (Heather) of Sarasota, FL, and their children Jimmy and Grace; son John “Jack” of St. Pete Beach, FL, daughter Heather Koehler (Todd) of Bernardsville, and their children Matthew and Kate.  Elaine’s love extended beyond blood ties, embracing two step-daughters who adored her: Alison Del Duca (Alex Steinhilb) of Byram, NJ, with their daughters Isla and Charlotte, and Cara Blazick (Jamison) of Charleston, SC.  Elaine’s memory is also cherished by her brother Richard Bertelson (Abbey) of Kittery, ME.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Elaine’s life will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024, at 10 am at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. Chatham, NJ. Visiting hours are on Thursday from 4 pm to 8 pm. Interment will take place at Fairmount Cemetery.
