Elizabeth Estey Butler, 88, of Westfield NJ, formerly of Branchburg, Fanwood, and Madison, NJ, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on February 21, 2024. Born in Staten Island, NY, she was the daughter of the late T. Harlan and Elizabeth (Elder) Estey, and sister to the late Catherine (Estey) Sorg.

Libby graduated from Madison High School and earned her bachelor’s in Commerce and Finance from Bucknell  University. She had 4 children with her former late husband, Edward M Butler III. As a working single mother she was a role model of determination, hard work, and loving kindness. Her career at Johnson and Johnson as a Human Resources Professional fit with her passion for helping others.  She was adored by her significant other of 30 years, the late Charles Lucas.

While living in Branchburg, she was a faithful member of the North Branch Reformed Church and supported many other members by driving them to doctor’s appointments and serving on the funeral committee.

The family is eternally grateful to Lawanda and the staff at Sunrise Assisted Living Reminiscence Unit in Westfield NJ for 9 years of care.

Libby enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, vacations at the beach, and traveling with Chuck.

She is survived by her sons, David (Marianne), Robert (Beata), and Charles (Suzanne), and her daughter, Elizabeth DiSciullo (Michael), and 9 grandchildren, David Butler (Maggie), Kevin Butler, Elizabeth Thalhofer (Jeff), Samantha Butler, James DiSciullo (Kaitlyn), Brian Butler, Christopher DiSciullo, Rachel Butler, and Charles Butler. Libby is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren, Cassidy Butler, John Butler, and Dylan DiSciullo.

Visiting hours will be at Wm Bradley and Sons, 345 Main St, Chatham 10:00 am -1:00 pm on Saturday Feb 24 with a prayer service at 12:00.
