Elma Marie Sutton, 70, of Florham Park, NJ, passed away on October 27, 2020. Visiting hours at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. in Chatham will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd from 11am to 1pm. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery in Orange. There will be a prayer service at 12:45pm during the visitation.
Born in Seaboard and raised in Margarettsville, NC, the daughter of Eddie and Essie Mae (Branch) Edwards, Elma had also lived in Newark and East Orange before moving to Florham Park twenty four years ago. She had worked at Graystone Park Hospital in Morristown, where she met her husband, Al, and later as a nurse’s aide at Pine Acres in Madison. Elma loved the Lord and was a longtime member of the Hallelujah Christian Fellowship in Union. She sponsored many children from Africa and Haiti and enjoyed travel, especially to St. Thomas, St. Kitt and Florida.
Elma was the beloved wife of 50 years to Alpheaus, “Al”. She was the loving mother of Andrew, Allen, Jackie, and the late Christopher. She is also survived by her cherished granddaughters, Harmony and Ebony and her dear siblings, George Edward, Cliff Edward, Anna Edwards, and Lillian Bundley as well as many loving nieces, nephews and relatives.
