Born to Paul and Mary Nielsen in East Hanover on June 16, 1933, Elsie lived in the same home all her life. Elsie graduated from Madison High School in 1951. She was the Valedictorian of her class. She also graduated from Drake Secretarial School in 1953. She worked as an Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of the Instrument Division, Thomas A. Edison Industries in West Orange for twenty-five years, then as a temporary employee at Sandoz Pharmaceutical Company (now Novartis), East Hanover, until retiring in 1995. Elsie spent each summer visiting her brother and his family on his ranch in the Canadian Rockies, BC, and traveled extensively.
She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Paul Nielsen. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Lorraine Nielsen, and nieces and nephews in Canada, her cousins, Frank J. Druetzler, Morris Plains, NJ, Niana Nielsen of West Baldwin, ME, Niels Nielsen of Montgomery, TX, and Mariros Schlachter of Werbach, Germany, and her many grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, and great-grandnephews.
