Emily Steck Wantz, 89, of Summit, NJ, passed peacefully on January 12, 2021. Born in Brooklyn, lived in Staten Island before moving to Summit, NJ over 40 years ago.
She started working for the phone company and changed jobs when her Dad asked her to come work for his company, Paul C. Steck, Inc. After he sold the company to her and her brother Paul, they expanded the company buying Exothermic Molding and Newark Industrial Spraying. When Paul retired, she bought him out and continued to run the company until 2018.
Marrying Richard in 1954, they loved to travel, see friends, and meet new people. She loved her homes in Nantucket and Bermuda, vacationing there many times. She loved to read, knit, crochet, estate sales, antiquing and being involved in her grandchildren’s lives and activities. Involved in New Jersey Association of Women’s Business Owners (NJAWBO) and Business and Professional Women’s Club of Summit (BPW). Active for years on BPW’s Scholarship and fundraising committee’s
Emily is survived by her husband Richard B. Wantz, mother of, Sue Farmen and Richard D. Wantz, grandmother of Christa & Diana Farmen, Kimberly & Andrew Wantz. Due to Covid, private family only service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Emily’s name may be made to. Schriners Hospitals for Children in Philadelphia.
