~~Erika T. Oliver, 81, of Wantagh, NY and recently of Madison, NJ passed away on February 5, 2014. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Church, 85 Washington Ave, Chatham on Saturday, February 15th at 11:00am. Interment is private. Friends are invited to visit at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St, Chatham on Friday, February 14 from 4 to 8pm.
Born in Brooklyn, Mrs. Oliver lived in Wantagh, NY for many years before moving to Madison 3 years ago. She graduated from Queens College in Queens, NY with a B.A. in Education and later earned an M.S. from Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY. Mrs. Oliver worked for many years as a Reading Specialist for the Patchogue-Medford School System in Patchogue, NY. She was an active member of the Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church, having served as president of the Women’s Fellowship Circle. Mrs. Oliver enjoyed Broadway and the Opera, photography, taking long walks on Jones Beach, vacations on Cape Cod with her family and cheering her grandchildren on in all their activities. She was a huge fan of Big Ten Basketball.
Mrs. Oliver was the beloved wife of 39 years to the late Oscar Oliver, Jr. She was the loving mother of William Oliver and wife Laura and Peter Oliver. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Billy, Katherine, Brian, and Sarah and dear brothers, Walter Tomforde and his wife Anita and Peter Tomforde and his wife Betty. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Oliver’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
