Esther Vargas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 04, 2021, at her home in Fanwood, NJ.
Esther was born August 9, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY, to Laura and Emanuel Splendorio. She was second born of eight siblings, and is preceded in death by an older brother and two younger sisters. Her most beloved husband, Louis, passed away nearly 16 years ago, after 54 years of joyful marriage.
Esther and Lou had four children (Louis, Anna Zuccarini, Lawrence, Leonard), all surviving. To her great joy, she also had 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is deeply missed by all.
Esther was an incredible Mom who worked a series of part-time jobs to help support her family after moving to Fanwood in 1953. In her later years, she loved working in the garden, exercising and socializing at the YMCA of Fanwood – Scotch Plains, and visiting with friends at the Fanwood Seniors Club.
Decisive and strong willed, she was also incredibly modest. In keeping with her express wishes, there will be no memorial, and her ashes will be remanded to her family.
