Eulalia “Lily” C. Caldas, 93, of Summit, NJ passed away peacefully on March 23, 2022. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 306 Morris Ave. in Summit on Monday, March 28th at 9:30am. Interment will follow at St. Teresa Cemetery.
Born in Quito, Ecuador, the daughter of Jose and Delia (Vega) Torres, Lily earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Colegio Normal Manuela Canizare and worked for many years as a kindergarten and first grade teacher. She came to the United States in 1964. First settling in Manhattan, Lily had also lived in Queens and New Providence before moving to Summit in 2016. She will be fondly remembered for her devotion to her family, friends and her church. Lily was very social and enjoyed dinner and conversations with family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards while listening to music, especially Tangos as well as reading and traveling.
Lily was the beloved wife of 58 years to the late Narciso Caldas. She was the loving mother of Silvia Sassaroli (the late Massimo), Santiago Caldas (Yolanda), Marisol Rodriguez (Armando) and Frank Caldas. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Grace Caldas, Alex Sassaroli (Kate Warren), David Sassaroli, and Eric Rodriguez (Alessandra Chen).
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lily’s memory may be made to either, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Mouth and Foot Painting Artists, ASPCA or Mercy Ship Doctors.
