Evelyn Gryson Walter, Beloved Mother, Grandmother & Great Grandmother
Evelyn Gryson Walter, 96, died on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at her home in Convent Station with her family at her side.
Born in Newark, NJ, Evelyn graduated from Central High School. She married Theodore Walter, the love of her life, and resided in Madison for over 50 years. Summers were spent on Lake Hopatcong at their summer home where they were long time members of the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club.
Evelyn was a very caring and loving individual. In 1954 she founded the Suburbanites Club which became incorporated in 1958. She was also a long time member of the Thursday Morning Club in Madison.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Theodore Russell Walter, Sr. on October 27, 2000, and her half brother James Gryson. Surviving are her daughter Evelyn Freudenberger; her three sons Theodore Russell Walter Jr., Robert Bruce Walter, and Steve Alan Walter; her nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 29th at 12 noon at the Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St, Chatham. Visiting hours will be held beginning at 10 am that morning and on Monday, January 28th from 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Suburbanites c/o Marie White, 24 Riverside Drive, Florham Park, NJ 07932.
