Frances Margaret Barringer, 86, of Chatham, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, to Margaret(Doherty) Poore and Francis Poore, she lived in Chatham for the last 46 years.
Family and friends were the joy of her life. She grew up in Charlestown, Massachusets with her sister Mary and brothers Charles and Francis. She was married to George F. Barringer, Jr, for 62 years. They deeply loved their three children, George, Kerry, and Susan Butler, and their four grandchildren, Katherine Butler, Daniel Barringer, Patrick Butler, and Brian Barringer. Fran was an avid reader, and enjoyed spending time in her English garden. She was an excellent knitter and loved sewing and knitting for her family. She and her husband enjoyed many years of traveling, but their favorite place was to spend time with their family in Cape Cod. She was a Brownie and Cub Scout leader, a member of Babies Hospital Auxiliary in Newark, and was a member of the Coral Belles of the Red Hat Society.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 10am at St Patricks Church corner of Chatham Street and Washington Ave.
