Francis J. Mulligan Jr. of Union, formerly of Millburn, died on Sunday November 18, 2012.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 9:15 am at St. James the Apostle Church, 45 S. Springfield Avenue in Springfield. Everyone is invited to meet directly at the church. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, East Hanover. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 20th from 6-9 pm at the Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave, Springfield. Born in NYC, Frank attended Fordham University. After his first year, he proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. Upon his return to the states, he completed his BS and then went on to St. John’s University to complete his MS in Physical Chemistry and NY Law for his LL.B. He worked for the International Nickel Co., Inc for many years, retiring as their Chief Patent Counsel. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and sang in the St. James Choir for nearly 50 years. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and smoking his pipe.
Predeceased by his wife Anne Mulligan, and his granddaughter Shannon McCune; he is survived by his daughters, Anne Sanchez and her husband Luis, Patricia Mulligan, and Kathryn McCune and her husband Gerald; his grandchildren Emily Scipione and her husband Gerard, Paul Sanchez and his wife Allison, Andrew Sanchez and his wife Peggy, Kerry McCune, Elizabeth Wilson and her husband Ryan, Mary Kathryn Sanchez, Erin McCune, Mark Sanchez, James Sanchez, and Joseph Sanchez; and his great grandchildren Ella Anne Scipione, Kathryn Marie Scipione, Reece Wilson and Thomas Sanchez.
