Frank A. Willis, Jr., formerly of Chatham Township and Basking Ridge, passed away on November 17, 2022. Frank was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on October 10, 1933. Frank graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Elizabeth. He then attended Boston University, where he was inducted in the Scarlet Key Honor Society, rowed on the crew team, and met Dorothy B. Willis, his wife of 65 years. He graduated in 1955. He served in the peacetime U.S. Army and was stationed in Paris.
Frank later earned an MBA in taxation.
Frank was a CPA with Arthur Andersen & Co. in New York, and attained senior financial management positions with Bankers Trust Company, First Jersey National Bank and Carteret Savings Bank.
He is survived by his wife Dot and their two children, Heidi Willis Currier (Randall) of Cranbury and Peter Willis (Kori) of Chatham Township. He had four grandchildren, Maxwell and Kyle Currier, and Jake and Nicole Willis.
Frank’s loving parents were Frank A. Willis, Sr. and Alice J. Willis.
Frank took great joy from tracing ancestors, particularly on his father’s side, back to 1634 in the London area, following which they settled in Burlington, NJ. Frank loved his life, his family, playing tennis and skiing and hiking in Vermont where he had a home for many years. He and Dot also traveled extensively.
Frank had worshipped at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Chatham since the mid-1960’s. He served as Senior Warden and in other lay positions with St. Paul’s and the Episcopal Diocese of Newark.
