Frank G. Franzinger, 98, of Westfield, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2012.

Born and raised in Elizabeth, Frank lived in Newark before moving to Westfield, where he lived for 45 years. He has lived in Basking Ridge for the last 10 years. A veteran of the US Army, Frank was a sharpshooter who was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in Italy during WWII. He was the proprietor of the Boulevard Exxon Service Station in Kenilworth. Frank was a member of the Mountainside Chapel, where he served as Deacon and one time Treasurer. He was a hobbyist, who enjoyed marquetry.

Predeceased by his wife Ruth M.(nee: Haines), and son Frank E. “Ziggy” Franzinger; Frank is survived by his daughter Lois Pimentel; grandchildren Lisa Bomba, Ryan Pimentel, Michelle Ward, Mark, Scott and Nicole Simone; 5 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; and brother Kurt Franzinger.
