Frank J. Hey, Jr., 92, of Summit and Morristown, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024 at Lantern Hill Retirement Community in New Providence, NJ.
Mr. Hey was born on December 24, 1931, in St. Louis, MO. He graduated from Washington University in St. Louis and was also an Army veteran. His entire career was in the insurance industry, working at Safeco, Fred S. James Insurance and Rohrbaugh Insurance prior to retirement.
Mr. Hey was preceded in death by his first wife, Dianne Davies Hey, as well as his second wife, Judith McCoy Hey. He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Graham of Forked River, NJ, Kimberly Hey of Vero Beach, FL, and Matthew Hey of Minneapolis, MN. He is also survived by son-in-law Robert Graham, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Frank was a remarkable athlete, well into his later years. He won multiple running trophies but he loved baseball and basketball most of all. As a young man, his proudest accomplishment was being invited to try out for the St. Louis Cardinals. He was very sociable and persuasive, with a dry sense of humor he passed on to his children. He once convinced a little girl in the neighborhood that the sun was blue and the sky was yellow. He was a gifted public speaker and loved telling stories and jokes. He had two long-term marriages and said that he couldn’t have wished for two better wives. Frank was a hard-working man and he led by example by instilling a strong sense of right and wrong in his children. He will be missed and the world won’t be the same without him in it.
