Plan for the Future
Born and raised in Newark where he graduated from the Arts High School, Frank was a long time resident of Springfield. He had attended Rutgers University and had served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Frank was the owner of the Gilbert Press which he founded in 1937. He was an active member of the Old First Presbyterian Church in Newark having served as Deacon, Elder, and five year President of the Board of Trustees. Frank was also a member of the Newark Rotary Club, served on the Advisory Board of the Newark Salvation Army, and was a past chairman of the Industrial Relations Committee for Springfield Township.
Frank was the beloved husband of 62 years to Shirley. He was the loving father of Robert Gilbert and his wife Eileen. He is also survived by his cherished granddaughters, Brianne, Faith, and Christianna, nephew Jeffrey Gilbert and his wife Joanne, and cousins Linda, Robert and Kelly Laukaitis, and Carol, Barry, and Jenny Laufer.
