Gelsomina Manganelli, age 92, formerly of Whippany passed away April 22, 2021 at her home. Gelsomina was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York on March 11, 1929 to the late Angelo Ralph Manganelli and Nancy Champi – Manganelli. She moved to Whippany in 1994.
Affectionally known as “Aunt Gel,” she graciously shared her life with her brother, sister, nieces and nephews, cousins, countless relatives and friends. She will be remembered as an amazingly supportive and fun-loving aunt, cousin and friend, ready to support anyone in need and one who knew how to artfully keep the peace, fight a good fight while keep everyone laughing and stabilized in unsettling times.
During her career, Gelsomina retired from the New York City Mass Transit Authority (MTA) after 39 years of service as an accounting manager.
She graduated Brooklyn College with a BS in accounting.
In addition, she enjoyed traveling to her Florida vacation home, cooking, making Christmas cookies, and sewing.
She had a loving generous heart and was devoted to her family and faith, she loved to celebrate the holidays by cooking, she will be dearly missed by all.
She is survived by her niece Elizabeth Gambino (Anthony), nephew Matthew Manganelli (Cheryl), nephew Thomas Morris (Maxine), nephew Raymond Manganelli (Arista), nephew Kenneth Morris (Mary), and niece Carol Laputka (Kenneth).
She raised each one like her own, mothering, supporting and unconditionally being there for each child and then their children’s life events and more. Generous in her abilities to provide support, love and affection, she nurtured them and helped each person heal through life’s ups, downs and hardships, always helping them find a positive path forward to live fruitful lives.
In addition, she has the following treasured great nieces, Melissa Gambino, Madison and Alyssa Manganelli, Kristina German, Danielle, Catherine, Julia, Grace Morris, Eric and Doug Laputka along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her.
The family will receive relatives and friends for Viewing on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 3-7PM at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home- 49 Whippany Road, Whippany, New Jersey 07981
The Funeral Liturgy will be offered 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Our Lady of Mercy RC Church in Whippany, NJ, followed by the interment at Gates of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
